Incoming Staff: Mobility Opportunities at PHSZ

Would you like to get to know PHSZ as a visiting lecturer, researcher, or staff member, explore different education systems, and exchange ideas and expertise with colleagues from around the world?

Schwyz University of Teacher Education (PHSZ) promotes the international exchange of knowledge and experience with partner universities across Europe and around the world. The range of opportunities also includes study visits and collaborative research projects. The International Office provides personalised support for incoming mobility participants and assists with the planning and organisation of their stay.

Grüezi, hello, and welcome. At PHSZ, every individual matters. Our university is personal in character and “small enough to think big”.

We currently offer two bachelor's degree programmes in Pre-Primary and Primary Education and Primary Education, as well as a Master’s degree in Media and Computer Science.

PHSZ also maintains an active research department with the following areas of focus:

  • Institute for Media and Schools (IMS) (Institut für Medien und Schule)
  • Institute for Research on Professions and Professional Learning (IPP) (Institut für Professionsforschung und Personalentwicklung)
  • Institute for Research on Instruction and Subject-Specific Education (IUF) (Institut für Unterrichtsforschung und Fachdidaktik), with a focus on STEM subjects (mathematics, computer science, natural sciences, and technology) and the arts.

Ways to Get Involved at PHSZ

Depending on the purpose of your stay, we offer opportunities for teaching, professional development, and academic exchange.

Visiting Lecturers at PHSZ (Staff Mobility for Teaching Assignments – STA)

Lecturers from partner universities are welcome to undertake a research stay or academic visit at PHSZ.

  • Duration

    A teaching assignment may last between a minimum of two days and a maximum of 60 days (excluding travel time). To be eligible for funding, participants must deliver at least eight hours of teaching, and an inter-institutional agreement must be in place between PHSZ and the respective partner university.

  • Financial Support

    Visiting lecturers may be eligible for financial support for teaching assignments (STA) through the Swiss-European Mobility Programme (SEMP).

    Participants in the Swiss-European Mobility Programme may also benefit from the Erasmus+ Interrail-Pass, which offers discounted and sustainable travel options across Europe.

Professional Development and Job Shadowing (Staff Mobility for Training – STT)

Staff Mobility for Training (STT) provides professional development opportunities for all university staff, including lecturers, research staff, and administrative personnel.

  • Duration

    A mobility stay should last at least two days and no more than 60 days (excluding travel time).

  • Financial Support

    Visiting staff may be eligible for financial support for teaching assignments (STA) through the Swiss-European Mobility Programme (SEMP).

    Participants in the Swiss-European Mobility Programme may also benefit from the Erasmus+ Interrail-Pass, which offers discounted and sustainable travel options across Europe.

Conferences and Workshops

Shorter visits, as well as participation in conferences or workshops, are not eligible for funding through the Swiss-European Mobility Programme (SEMP). However, the International Office at PHSZ may review and support such activities on a case-by-case basis.
